Level 1 OM Meditation and Gentle Vinyasa Practice
I offer this ~60 minute Gentle Vinyasa Podcast. There is a relatively short(6-7 min) meditation that works with a quote from the book Siddharta, and an opportunity for you to chant OM 18 times with me and the participants of the class. The practice is appropriate for beginners.
I recently re-read the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. I was reminded again that ALL experiences are worthy of our attention, and I was struck more by the necessity of a “pierced” heart to find love. To allow emotion pain to crack through the hardness that prescriptive practices can sometimes create, and the jewel that is a SIMPLE practice.
Here is the quote used in the meditation. It takes place as Siddhartha is sorrowfully listening to the river after his young son has rebelled and ran away from home:
“..And all the voices, all the goals, all the yearnings, all the sorrows, all the pleasures, all the good and evil, all of them together was the world, all of them together were the streams of events and the music of life. When Siddhartha listened attentively to this river, to this song of a thousand voices, when he did not listen only to the sorrow or laughter, did not bind his soul to any one particular voice and absorb it in himself, but heard them all, the whole, the unity–then the great song of a thousand voices consisted of one word: Om – perfection.”
